Second and final year undergraduates In each year you will choose one of four 'Pathways' strands – Employability, the Voluntary Sector, Enterprise and Active Citizenship.
These options are more practical than the first year courses - preparing you for the world of work, whether that's in the voluntary sector, your own start- up social enterprise or with a traditional graduate recruiter. Registration opens in mid- February each year. In the meantime, you can register your interest on this page, and we'll keep you up to date with all the news. How are places allocated? Places will, for the most part, be allocated on a first- come basis. Parts of the second and final year strands may have variations on this - for instance, charities may be looking for specific skills on the Voluntary Sector strand. Check the relevant pages on this site for more information. Is it free? Yes. The UCL Global Citizenship Programme is free to all UCL undergraduates as part of their degree; there may be a small deposit required to secure your place on some parts of the Programme, but this is refunded to you on completion.
What's the timetable like? This varies according to the options you choose, but for the first- year options, you should be between 1. There may be evening sessions such as film showings or panel discussions - check the course pages for more details. The Enterprise, Voluntary Sector and Employability options for second and final year undergraduates will be quite different - see the relevant pages for more information. Does it take place over the weekend? There are no sessions over the weekend - the Programme takes place on weekdays only. Do I have to attend every session?
In order for your participation to be recorded on your HEAR, we need to be able to verify that you have attended at least 7. The second and final year options may require you to attend more, particularly where you have made a commitment to a work placement. Some sessions may be optional - these will be clearly marked - but we encourage you to attend all sessions to make the most of this opportunity. Will it count towards my degree? At present the UCL Global Citizenship Programme carries no credits towards your degree.
Successful participation is recorded on your HEAR, for future employers to be able to see that you've taken part, and you'll receive a certificate too. Can IOE students take part? Of course!
